This is a Design-Build, for new construction and repair of exisiting utilidor systems on Eielson AFB, Alaska. Project tasks include a variety of construction, repair and replacement of sewer, water, steam and condensate lines within existing utilidor structures or direct buried and/or repair/replacement of equipment in mechanical rooms.

American has planned a layout route that is west of the buildings of Koyuk to reduce interruptions to the housing occupants; Prevent the removal of large trees; Decrease crossings of the existing utilities; As well as minimize the depth of excavation. Existing utilities found during installation of the utilidor will be noted, surveyed to the extent exposed during excavation and documented in the as-built drawings.

FTG156 Repair Building 660 (5763)
Ft. Greely, Alaska
This Design-Repair of a 1960's era, 4-story building will when complete provide adequate Emergency Services/Police Station, Battalion HQ and COF functions. The project will demolish and remove all remaining exterior and interior finishes, fixtures and mechanical and electrical equipment. Hazardous material will be removed from the building during demolition including, but not limited to, lead-based paint and asbestos. Repairs to the facility's thermal envelope, interior spaces, failing fire protection system, and voice & data communications infrastructure are required.

FTW374C Duplex Company Operations Facility (5745)
Ft. Wainwright, Alaska
This Design-Build project was a joint venture between Arctic Contracting and American Mechanical Inc. The Arctic-American JV created a team that has direct, relevant experience on Federal projects to manage and execute this project with the highest degree of safety, quality, and efficiency. This Design and construct a Duplex Company Operations Facility (COF) for the Aviation Task Force Phase 4 at Ft. Wainwright. Design Alaska served as the Lead Design Partner for this construction.

The facility will house administrative operations and store and move supplies for two 150-person companies, and is comprised of an Admin Module, Readiness Module, and Enclosed Hardstand. Facility is similar to office/warehouse type facilities. Supporting facilities include Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Mass Notification Systems, Energy Monitoring and Control Systems (EMCS), fire protection and alarm systems, utilities, electric service, exterior lighting, site grading, storm drainage, Special Foundations, and building information systems. Sustainable and Energy Measures were required by design. This project is already registered with the US Green Building Council under LEED-NC Version 3.

This Design-Build project was a joint venture between Doyon Management Services (DMS) a subsidiary of Doyon, Ltd. and American Mechanical Inc. The DMS American Mechanical JV created a team that has direct, relevant experience on Federal projects to manage and execute this project with the highest degree of safety, quality, and efficiency. BCRA/BCE served as the Lead Design Partner. All entities enjoy a successful prior working relationship on Federal Design-Build contracts both together and as separate entities.

The major elements of work include: Demolition of existing interior structures, mechanical, and electrical systems. New interior partitions, doors and finishes; new mechanical and electrical systems; new vehicle exhaust system in the large apparatus bay; new fire protection system; new windows and personnel doors; replacement of overhead doors; partial roof replacement; new vapor barrier and exterior insulation finish system; new mezzanine in large apparatus bay; temporary firefighter quarters/restrooms/dayroom; and replacement of the parking lot.
